History of the USS North Carolina

The U.S.S. North Carolina posed a huge task for a small team like the Alabama Paranormal Research Team. Located in the
Cape Fear River in Wilmington, North Carolina. The ship itself is enormous weighing in at 36,600 tons (unloaded) 728 feet long
and 108 feet wide capable of carrying more then 2,300 men, and an arsenal of heavy weaponry and machinery including  8
electrical turbines and 8 boilers that generated the steam to move her massive body at a maximum speed of 28 knots. Her
heavy fire power consisted of 9 16-inch/45 caliber Mark 6 guns, 20 5-inch/38 caliber Mark 12 guns, and combinations of 40 mm
and 20 mm antiaircraft guns, also known as Flack guns. The USS North Carolina was built by the Brooklyn Navy Yard and
launched on June 13, 1940 and commissioned on April 9, 1941. In her time she was considered the most advanced battleship
in the US Navy. Her sister ship the USS Alabama located in Mobile, Alabama.

Aboard the USS North Carolina many stories have been spun of flame headed specters that seem to peer into your very soul
along with pranksters and the voices of the unseen. Danny Bradshaw is the night watchman aboard the ship and has helped to
maintain her for the last 33 years. He has written a book on his encounters aboard the ship and part of the proceeds for this
book goes toward a fund for his niece who has cerebral palsy. You can purchase a copy of his book threw the battleship North

Investigation of the Battleship North Carolina

Our investigation turned up a lot of evidence and personal experiences. One in particular.  Upon set up on the ship an
anonymous member was below setting up our night vision camera's. This member is a respected and senior member so
venturing off into dark places in haunted locations are not unusual for this member. While in sick bay the investigator entered to
set the camera up when they saw what was reported to have been a black man in a standard white t-shirt and boxer shorts. The
investigator continued to set up the camera and thought  "Who are you?" then heard a voice answer "Henry" The investigator
continued with set up and then moved back above the levels to the base camp. Later when set-up was complete we all sat
down for a breather and a snack before we started our investigation. Investigator Michelle Smith asked the anonymous
investigator "Are you OK?" and the investigator answered "Yea, why?" Michelle then proceeded to ask again "You saw
something already didn't you?" the investigator answered "There is a man in sick bay, I think his name is Henry." "He doesn't
seem to see me but can hear me." Later on after we started to investigate our groups divided with 2 members stationed at
base. The anonymous member who saw the man in sick bay stayed behind and upon the return of the group we reviewed
some of the audio and was shocked to hear the voice of a man answering one of our Junior investigator CoCo ask "Are you
Henry?" and to our surprise a whispering voice answers "Henry, Henry, Can you hear me?"
Just as our anonymous member reported. As if he didn't see them but could hear there voice. EMF spikes picked up in
random locations in sick bay suggest a moving field exist in the location as well. Odd as it seems there is no report to my
knowledge of anyone having an encounter of this kind on the ship. We are currently in contact with a few groups in North
Carolina to hopefully validate this claim. Does Henry haunt sick bay aboard the USS North Carolina? And if so why does he
stay there? Was he a sailor, solider, or marine? Who knows but the story of Henry will definitely live with the members of
APRT,  and that faithful night aboard the USS North Carolina.

Junior investigator CoCo ask "Is your name Henry?" and
a whisper answers "Henry!"
This EVP was also captured in sick bay, as we sat
listening and asking questions we got some type of
response. We're not exactly sure of what it says but we
believe it may either say "thought so" or "pot smoke"
This EVP was captured in the museum area while
Founder Faith Serafin and Jr. Investigator Jay-Bo conduct
a short session it doesn't take long for the entities to
make themselves known: "Where you in the Army?"
(whisper "No") "What was that?" (Whisper "was not!")
This one pretty much speaks for itself, I guess they
don't call it "cursing like a sailor for nothing" Listen as a
voice says: "It's F*cking cold down here" as we exit the
bottom of the ship
Video and photo Evidence

This picture was taken in one of the mess halls located on the ship. This is the mess hall location where Mr. Bradshaw reports
to have seen a man with a white flame atop his head standing in the doorway. While there's is no white flamed ghost the dark
shadow does drift atop the picture and blocks out the light reflecting on the overhead pipes. Paranormal or not, it's odd to say
the least. Over 1000 pictures where taken on board the ship and this is the only one we captured even remotely paranormal.
Photo Captured by investigator Michelle Smith.

This video below shows the random spikes of EMF we picked up in Sick Bay while looking for Henry on board the USS North
Carolina.
Non Paranormal photos and information
This picture was taken just outside the home of
Wilmington's  first governor. Located in the historical
district of Wilmington, North Carolina. Governor
Dudley Mansion.
The Graystone Inn may not have a haunting (that we
know of) but it's definitely an awesome building. Fully
restored and one of the souths top rated B&B's
