The Farnsworth House Inn

Gettysburg, PA
The History of the Farnsworth House Inn

The Farnsworth House Inn is located at 401 Baltimore Street in Gettysburg, PA. Named for Union Army Brigadier General Elon
John Farnsworth and built in 1810 the location has a long standing history and paranormal activity. One of Gettysburg TOP
haunted hotels/Inn, members of APRT investigated the location in February of 2008. The Farnsworth House played a vital role in
the Civil War and it's ghost still hang about as if stuck in time. The South side of the building is still peppered in the bullets and
artillery original to fighting during the Civil War. Confederate forces over took the location and situated there sharp shooters in the
small attic window on the same side of the house were the previously mentioned damage can be found. It's said that the sharp
shooters in the attic were replaced after one another either by being wounded and dead. Stained floor boards in the attic of the
blood that was said to be more then an inch deep.
Several rooms at the Farnsworth Inn are haunted. In the Main house you will find the Sarah Black room, The Catherine Sweney
room, The Eisenhower room, the Shultz Room, and the McFarland Room. In the Garden area there are haunted rooms as well:
The Custard room, The Jenny Wade room, The Belle Boyd room, and the Lincoln room. The Farnsworth House also invites it's
guest to take advantage of the nightly tours offered at the Farnsworth as well. Taking advantage of the tours will give you access to
the basement and the attic.
The attic seems to be the location were a little boy named "Jeremy" has been seen and felt. A playful spirit it's said that he may
have been the ghost of a boy who was hit by a carriage in front of the Inn in the early 1880's. Several spirits are said to haunt the
Inn from the little girl who passed away in what is now the Sarah Black room to a mid wife who committed suicide in the McFarland
room. Director Faith Serafin and Cassie Clark were fortunate enough to have stayed in the McFarland room which is said to be
one of the more active room.

Investigation of the Farnsworth House Inn

While Co-Directors set up the McFarland room with video cameras and digital voice recorders. They set our for dinner after a 12
hours drive and when they returned to find they had already captured evidence on the recorders. A bit of excitement set in since
we would actually be sleeping in this haunted room! The night was quite but not for long. Co-Director Cassie Clark mentions to
Director Faith Serafin that something seemed to have been playing with her hair the night before as she lay in bed. Once she had
reported this Faith also responded to having had a very similar sensation. Later we would learn of the little boy they call Jeremy
who is very playful and known for his antics and silly and sometimes obnoxious behavior.
While on the tour in the attic APRT captured some great video footage of the door opening and closing. Since Jeremy is known to
play in the attic we asked and were aloud to film the area during the tour as long as we didn't interfere with the tour itself. Taking
advantage of the situation Cassie and Faith became a tag team of paranormal SWAT! Carrying enough equipment to make use
more likely to catch some type of evidence. We were fortunate enough to capture several EVP's and the footage of the door
opening in the attic. A number of personal experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.
There is a magical atmosphere at the Farnsworth House Inn and it seems to emanate from Baltimore street itself. Having the
opportunity to stay and investigate such a historic and paranormally active location was a real treat. Our team has plans to travel
back to Gettysburg with the Hopes that once again the Spirits of Gettysburg will make themselves known.
